A Supermoon, Raw Data, and a Nervous Hour or Two
You had to wonder. Not out loud, but you had to wonder if it was going to be one of those nights. Very calm conditions, nothing aligning particularly favourably for auroral conditions, and the brightest moon of the year over a landscape covered completely in white with a blanket of cloud creeping up off the horizon.
But it wasn't, in the end, one of those nights. Say what you will about how quiet it began, but conditions changed, as they usually do - special shoutout to the italics - and the aurora danced. And it was -32.
