In the Dark

Isn't that ironic, on a night where the moon was 94% illuminated.

As we left town, I made the customary stop before cell service disappears a few kilometres outside of Yellowknife to load up all the weather maps and most recent space weather data knowing we'd be in the dark the rest of the night unless we turned back. But no, we were committing west so into the clouds we went, through them to the largest small clearing we could find. It was far from perfect, but that matched - in hindsight, apparently - the auroral conditions for the moment, or hour...s. But of course with patience and not (much) panic, the skies cleared, and another most memorable dance of pink repeatedly washed straight overhead of us.
