On Again/Off Again

Like an unhealthy relationship, I was on again/off again with an earlier pick-up time tonight seeing auroral conditions spike into the really, really good realm this afternoon and early evening. It’s easy to jump at the sight of that and to leave town substantially earlier, but that’s a dangerous bet to make on a night at -40. If you’re not a night hawk, an extra late night is hard. If you’re not a night hawk and not a cold weather person, an extra late, brutally cold night is really hard. Tonight we opted to stick with the norm, and were lucky it ended up being the right call.
